| I have had a passion for animals all of my life. I was born into a life of horses and they were a part of my life until I was a young adult. My First Encounter My love for Sheltie's began almost 20 years ago. My first encounter with a Sheltie was as a young girl my Grandparents had a Sheltie her name was Mairleal Megan who was called Lady and a lady she was. A few years later, I think I was about 10 years old I was lucky enough to own my first dog his name was Shadow, he was also Sheltie. This little dog was my greatest friend as a child, I remember dressing him up in cloths, taking him for rides on my horses and one time I even harnessed him up like a cart horse once and he was dragging a cardboard box with no problems just because i wanted him to. Shadow also did all the normal things dogs liked to do. He was with us for a long time and saw me through many times. I miss my old friend but I am grateful to have learnt the love of a Sheltie. After we lost Shad my Mum decided to get another Sheltie this time the dog was hers as i had moved out of home and joined the Air Force. Mum instantly loved her new boy Chance (Hortonpark The Chancelor), Mum purchased Chance just as a pet but along the was she became involved in showing dogs, when I was home on holidays I would go along to these dog shows but I never really understood what the fascination was. Not long after I discovered was the fascination was about. Dog Shows?? Fascinating?? Yes I get it now and about a year later Mum bred her first litter and i was going to show one of the pups up in Darwin. Holly (Lyndream Holly in Spring) came to live with me and Holly and I were about to embark on our show career, just before our first show tragedy struck and Holly was attacked by another dog. Unfortunately Holly had to have one of her legs amputated. She nows lives happily with three legs and not a care in the world. After this tragedy Mum decided to send her boy Chance up for me to show, Chance was just what i needed he was a lovely boy and taught me a lot about showing. Chance and I did a lot of winning in Darwin. He soon became an Australian Champion. When Chance returned home I found myself with no dogs to show and within a weekend of attending a show in Victoria I found myself returning to Darwin with two dogs owned my other people to show, they were Timmar Is The Squire Blue and Meega Gypsy Music. Squire and Miss Dell gained their Australian Champion title with ease while in my care. Shortly before I left Darwin I purchased my own beautiful Sheltie's to show. I have since moved south and have continued showing Sheltie's with success and started breeding Sheltie's is 2005. Breeding I totally love this wonderful breed and i wish to breed Sheltie's that a not only are show dogs but also best friends, a Sheltie that suits anyone. When i look at a Sheltie i want to see instant beauty with balance that just melts your heart. I breed to the Australian breed standard and carefully select lines that I believe that will complement each other. Success.... Our kids are doing us proud in the ring together with my Mother Lyn we have bred/owned or shown Best in Show winners both specialty and All Breeds, Royal Show winners. We hold all our wins with great pride. |
